Il Viottolone is a typical tuscan farmhouse, originally dating back to the late 1700’s and part of a larger estate, it is now a working farm set in approximately 10 acres of olive groves, fields and woods. Italian owners Vincenzo, an artist and collector and his english partner Lizzie, a garden designer and cook have been renovating the house, the barn and its outbuildings and making a garden during the last 10 years.
Wishing not to destroy the essence of the original tuscan farm they have retained many of the original features while including a modern twist, in particular in the kitchens and bathrooms.
Their aim has been to respect the spirit of the place at all times.
They are both passionate about art, food, wine and nature. They live in the main house which is adjacent to the barn and are delighted to help you discover the delights of Tuscan life.
They seek to offer unfussy luxury in the tuscan countryside and are pleased to assist to make your holiday memorable.
Vincenzo, originally from Genoa, Liguria, has lived and worked as an artist and antique dealer in Tuscany for many years. He takes great pleasure in the production of his organic kitchen garden. Although perhaps here you will not find everything planted in neat rows, the quality and quantity of vegetables Vincenzo produces for the kitchen is impressive. In their light and spacious home eclectic objects sit happily alongside each other to vibrate and create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Lizzie, a Garden designer and trained cook has spent over thirty years pursuing her knowledge and indulging her passion for good honest food that has a sense of place. Lizzie began her food journey in France, she trained and worked with chefs in London but ultimately her culinary adventures led her to Italy. Captivated by Tuscan food that is so inextricably tied to the land and the seasons, together with the supreme quality of its locally based ingredients, Lizzie put down roots in the Tuscan hills. Here she has spent the last years using her experience as a qualified garden designer to create a beautiful and unique tuscan garden. She and Vincenzo now devote their time to cultivating olives, fruit and vegetables whilst running a small, intimate guesthouse and culinary experiences in their delightful home.
